Why we do yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and breath work ALL have to do with changing the states of our brainwaves.
You see?
Most of us are stuck in Beta where it's good for problem solving and cognitive tasks.
However, when we're in Beta overdrive, we tend to feel anxious and overwhelmed.
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yoga and meditation help us to shift from Beta to Alpha, where our thoughts slow down and we tap into the here and now.
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yoga nidra helps us shift into Theta where we can begin to release the 'stuff' we subconsciously hold on to.
That's why it's important to set an intention when doing nidra!
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lastly, on both end of the BW spectrum, we tap into Gamma when we feel a rush of universal love/altruism.
Meanwhile, yogis can consciously slide into Delta waves even when they're 'awake'.
This is often called Turiya or super conscious state in ancient yogic text.
